After battling for life for 11 days, Nazmeen — who was allegedly raped and set on fire by her maternal grandfather — succumbed to burn injuries on Monday morning. The 11-year-old had suffered 90% burns and was undergoing treatment at the SMS hospital.
Lal Kothi police has now registered a case of rape and murder against the girl’s grandfather. Sale More..em, who is already in police custody under Sections 376, 307 and 354 of the IPC, has now been booked under section 302 of IPC.
The incident occurred when Nazmeen and her brother visited Saleem’s shop near Dhannadas Ki Bagichi in Lal Kothi on October 16. Saleem had claimed that he set her on fire, infuriated after she tried to apply a lipstick.
Adarsh Nagar circle officer Asharam Chaudhary said that rape charges were filed against Saleem after the victim’s medical report confirmed the rape on October 20.

Fighting between rebel forces and government troops has driven thousands of people in the Congo out of their homes.
KILIMANYOKA, Congo - Rebel forces advanced on Congo's eastern provincial capital of Goma on Wednesday, threatening to overwhelm government troops and a 17,000-strong U.N. force deployed to halt a return to all-out war.
Bomb blasts, rocket fire and screaming mortars could be heard from three miles outside the city.
"There's heavy, heavy fighting," a Reuters witness said as a U.N. attack helicopter circled overhead. "You can even see smoke from where the shells have hit."

The incident was audiotaped, and it's amazing. It happened on the set after a director of photography accidentally ruined a scene by walking onto the set. Bale lost it, screaming, yelling and threatening to quit if the bosses didn't fire the dude.
Film execs sent the tape to the insurance company that insured the film in case Bale bailed.
